What Is BioCoal?
- An enhanced wood fuel.
- A high grade, smokeless fuel suitable for commercial,
industrial, and domestic use.
-
Renewable fuel for co-firing with pulverized coal in electric
generation facilities.
-
Feedstock for wood fuel pellets, briquettes or other densified biomass-based fuels.
-
Feedstock for biofuels manufacture.
Internationally patented Airless Torrefaction technology achieves a stable moisture content
of about 3%, reduction of mass by 30%, retention of 90% of
original energy content and removal of smoke producing agents,
and has a heating value of approximately 22,560 kJ/kg (9,720
Btu/lb) and is friable, i.e., can be crumbled or pulverized.
Applications for BioCoal
- High volume, low cost, bulk fuel for co-firing with coal in power plants.
- Industrial, commercial & domestic bioenergy applications
when used in
lump form and as briquettes or pellets.
- Advanced applications such as an upgraded biomass
feedstock for small modular downdraft gasification distributed power
systems.
- Direct gasification processes to produce electricity for the
municipal grid.
- Feedstock for biofuels manufacture.
